Sprstoner takes down the NumbBlowMe Open

Poker 3 Comments »

More details to follow, but sprstoner is the champion of the NumbBlowMe Open II.

He fought off a slew of Canadians at the final table, but ultimately emerged victorious.

This title should rank pretty high on his list of accomplishments if you ask me.  Maybe he should splurge and get two “dates” tonight rather than one.

Always have loved his blog, and I’m glad to congratulate him as the winner of my silly little tournament.

The NumbBlowMe Open

Guess what… it’s almost here…the second installment of the fun…fun…funniest blogger tournament around these days.

Tired of watching Lucko jam every pot in The Mookie, then suck out on you, robbing you of your $10 buyin?  Are you sick of me running over you in The Dookie, Kat’s Donkament, and any low limit HORSE tourney that you’re unfortunate enough to be in with me?

How about Hoy?  Are you sick of him winning every Mookie that he enters?  Oh wait, I’m not a fiction writer, sorry about that.

Here’s your chance to bust all of us, and many others…multiple times.

Come sling chips around like a high roller.  2-4 off…jam.  A-A…jam.  It doesn’t matter what you have, because you’re jamming every hand in this first hour, and then…at the end of the hour, you’ll dig deep into the pocket of your Levi’s and grab another dime to tack on those extra 1500 chips to your already swollen chipstack.

Last time, we had 99 entrants, and NutzCarson had the most rebuys, with 132.  Let’s see if we can’t top that this time around.

Limit Holdem is fun

Poker 4 Comments »

OK, I wouldn’t call it fun, but for a guy who reluctantly signed up for this weeks edition of The Skills Series because it was limit holdem, and feared dying of boredom during said tournament, I guess I fared pretty well

Skills Series Win

Knocked out over half the field, with eight bounties as well.

It’s funny, I’m becoming more and more of a HORSE specialist these days, but I consider LHE the weakest part of my HORSE game.  I mixed things up from my usual LHE strategies tonight, and I think I may have opened my eyes up to a few leaks in my usual LHE game.  Further exploration is needed.

Since the new year, I’ve focused my energies on games that…well… I’m good at.  Namely HORSE, and I’ve revisited my strategy for playing Heads-Up Sit and Go’s.  I used to to kill the NLHE HU SnG’s in the $5 to $10 range, but the latter part of 2008 saw a steady deterioration of my HU game.  Basically, I’d become too passive.  In my case, you could probably call it laziness.  Proper attention is needed when playing HU, and I think that’s where I failed.  I’ve plugged that leak, and the results are good, save for a short mid-month lapse.

The turnaround in my game, as well as profits, actually goes back to early November of last year.  At that point in time, I had around $60 combined left on “The Big Three”, Full Tilt, PokerStars, and Bodog.  Today, that amount is up around $1500, with healthy enough rolls on each site to play the games that are profitable to me (although Bodog doesn’t offer HORSE).  And no reloads for me thank you.

I know it’s not Lucko or Chad type money, but it’s pretty good for me.

Here’s to continued success in 2009 for not only me, but for all of you.

$20 HORSE

Mobney

I’m not particularly pleased with a 5th place finish, and the cash is nothing earth–shattering, but it was fun chatting with Emptyman, who I busted in 10th, throughout the tourney.  We share a lot of the same strategies and thoughts about playing MTT Horse tourneys, and we’ve both had some degree of success, although his is on a bit larger scale.

I don’t have any screenshots, but I was disgusted with my play on 2 key hands.  Otherwise I felt pretty good about the way I played in this.  Need to go look at some HH’s and learn from my mistakes.

Playing poker while the sun is still up feels weird though.

Straight Flush Wheel

I was pretty sure this hand was good for the high and the low.  Don’t let the message box in the middle fool you, we were playing Omaha 8 here (as if you couldn’t figure that out by looking at the number of cards in my hand).

So pretty, isn’t it…absolutely gorgeous me thinks.  And I took a pile of few chips from jimdniacc on this hand.

LOL…Donkaments

This is getting sick.  Below, you’ll see the results of the last six Donkaments I’ve entered.  Donkament being Katitude’s Friday night $1 rebuy tourney.

These aren’t consecutive weeks, but the last six that I’ve played.

Enjoy the dominance, I know I do.

I have a question though…who wins this thing when I don’t play?

Dookie Results – 1/14/08

We had thirteen players show up for the second Dookie of 2009 last night.  Your host…me…took it down for the second week in a row to maintain his hold on the top spot of The Dookie Leaderboard, while Breeze81 and PinkyStinky made the money.  All three of the cashers in The Dookie also made the cash in The Mookie as well.
